How to potty train a Sphynx kitten
Small hairless kittens require increased attention and care. Much of this applies to the toilet as well. It is important to think about this issue before purchasing a kitten.
As you know, among the owners of these animals there is a rule that the Sphynx kitten must be accustomed to the tray from birth. One may wonder: how will a kitten that has not had time to adapt to a strange environment for him, be accustomed to the tray? Especially for these purposes, they make a fence around the habitat and put two trays for babies, they should be low so that the kitten himself can climb into them. A special filler is poured into the toilet tray in granules, or pressed sawdust, as well as clay-based or just street sand.
At first, it is necessary to limit the habitat to one room. In this room, put a bowl and a tray so that your pet is not afraid of the new environment.
It is best for babies to choose a filler made from natural substances, as during this period of life they taste everything. For example, you can choose a clay-based filler. This material is harmless and there will be no stomach problems.
You should also carefully look after the Sphynx kitten, because these are not dogs that do not go to the tray, but begin to fuss and look after a place for the toilet. Therefore, you need to react quickly when you notice this behavior.
Kittens need to be taught to dig litter in the tray. Show your child how to dig in the tray by your example. And then the kitten itself will begin to repeat these actions after you. And digging a hole means going to the toilet there, and this is already an instinct.
Well, and most importantly, in order to accustom a Sphynx kitten to a tray, you need - if the kitten does "deeds" next to the tray, then moisten a couple of granules and put them back, we do the same with a chair. The kid begins to navigate by smell and next time he will do toilet chores in a tray.
The fence can be removed in two weeks, when the kitten is finally accustomed to the tray.
