Overview of Pexion
Pexion is prescribed by veterinarians for idiopathic epilepsy in dogs to reduce the frequency of seizures. The drug also has an anticonvulsant (anticonvulsant) effect.
Can be used to treat epilepsy in dogs only after an accurate diagnosis has been established. Use the drug strictly according to the instructions or as prescribed by the veterinarian.
Most often, Pexion 100 mg is used twice a day, where the interval between doses is no more than half a day. For 1 kg of animal weight, the initial dose can be 10 mg of imepitoin. If, with continuous treatment during the week, the frequency of attacks has not decreased, the dose is increased by 50 or even 100%, the main thing is that it does not exceed the norm of 60 mg of imepitoin per 1000 g of the pet's weight. The drug inhibits seizures through receptor-mediator effects on neurons.
The drug has contraindications. If the pet has impaired activity of the kidneys, gastrointestinal tract, liver, blood vessels and heart. Breeding dogs, whose body weight does not reach five kilograms, cannot use pexion for treatment. It is also contraindicated to use the drug in dogs with cluster epileptic seizures and status epilepticus.
