Laperm longhair
An unusual breed of cat is the Laperm Longhair. Her story leads to the USA, to Oregon. And the unusualness is due to the fact that the kitten, which is considered the ancestor of the breed, was born to an ordinary domestic cat completely bald (1982). And over time, this amazing little creature acquired unique wavy fur.
The descendants of this kitten, which appeared over the next five years, were taken as the basis for developing a new original breed of cats, which received official recognition in the mid-nineties of the twentieth century.
Kittens of the breed sometimes still appear “naked”, with no fur at all. And even after appearing with fur, it can be renewed (come out) several times during the year, changing to a new one, more curly and silky.
It is worth noting that there are also short-haired lapermas. But apart from the length of their coat, they are no different from their long-haired counterparts. Their fur is dense, soft and quite silky.
Breed behavior in everyday life
Laperm owners note that it is simply impossible not to love these cute cats. These very gentle and sociable creatures simply love to kiss their owners or rub their faces against them. They can also show their tenderness through touching their hands or “butting” their nose. And what pleasure they get if you let them ride your shoulders! But the cat’s favorite place, where she especially loves to pamper herself, is the owner’s lap. And these curious animals also really like to take part in the owner’s affairs; you don’t even need to ask for it. However, don’t forget to thank for the “help,” especially with affection or something tasty.
Lapermas are so loving that they love all the residents in the house, and even the pet dogs. They can become wonderful companions for your children, a welcome soul in your company.
The cat is generally not talkative, but if you watch TV, this unusually inquisitive cat will sit down to watch it with family members and will “comment” on the stories that she especially liked in a pleasant purring melodious voice, and when she sees enemies, she will growl menacingly at them to get scared.
And although the laperm is considered a “silent” animal, if there is a lack of attention from the owners, it can remind itself of itself with a ringing voice.
The living conditions, even in small-sized housing, are quite satisfactory for the cat, as long as there is at least one of the residents nearby - loneliness is terrible for them.
The LaPerm is a fairly intelligent breed. Cats of this breed are easy to train, and therefore can be taught a lot quickly. They are obedient and calm. And at the same time, they love freedom and the outdoors, so walking with your pet is a must, especially in warm weather.
In addition, the beautiful cat with a curly coat is also an excellent hunter. She can easily handle mice and even rats thanks to her amazing agility and very good mobility. Hunting never tires her.
Health and care
Lapermas have good health, and with proper and very simple care they practically do not get sick. The main care consists of systematically combing out the curly coat (even using your hands is allowed).
As for bathing, you shouldn’t overdo it (no more than once a month) so as not to spoil the appearance of the coat with its curls. After bathing, let the fur dry naturally, do not dry it with hair dryers, do not spoil the fur.
Caring for your pet's ears and eyes is the same as for other cat breeds: clean the ears with ear sticks, wipe the eyes with cotton swabs dipped in tea.
If you have a country house, then this freedom-loving cat will be very happy with you, as well as you and her.
