Diseases of the skin in the Don Sphynx
The first problem is acne, that is, acne. It can manifest itself in this breed of cat at any age. It doesn't matter whether your specimen is male or female. The disease affects areas of skin on the tail and along the spine, neck, belly and face of the animal. In some cases, this anomaly causes pigment spots to appear on your pet’s body. It's all due to hereditary predisposition. Treatment should be carried out using salicylic acid with the addition of hydrogen peroxide. It is applied to painful areas of the animal’s body. Also used are drugs: gels and solutions Delex-Acne for mild forms of the disease, Zinerit in case of severe disease, as well as Lindamycin and Minocycline. We do not recommend choosing your own medicine; it is better to consult a specialist.
There is a nodular-cystic rash. This disease causes the appearance of infiltrates and cystic cavities filled with fluid. Fistulas form on the cat’s body through which this substance comes out. Even if your Sphynx survives this disease, scars remain on the body as a consequence of the disease. The list of medications that the veterinarian will prescribe for you is as follows: Doxycycline lotions - Unidox, Zenerit, Clindamycin one percent, Linement.
Seasonal skin dermatitis. Eczematoid areas are formed by frequent scratching. It can be picked up a second time with the same functions. Treatment is carried out with Dexafort (single injection) and Teramicin spray, which is sprayed over the affected area of the skin. Do not let your cat out of the house, this will prevent the occurrence of seasonal dermatitis. It only affects females during the period of estrus.
Another serious threat is lichen and dermatophytosis. Occurs as a result of contact with a sick animal or contaminated environment. The risk is more noticeable in small kittens, due to their fragile bodies and weak immunity. Sphynx cats begin to go bald and their skin begins to peel. If you suspect lichen, contact your veterinarian immediately.
