How to care for the ears of a Sphynx cat?

It turns out that the cats need to care. After all, the ability to hear sounds for an domesticated animal is no less important than the ability to hear smells. And the ears of cats and cats, as well as people, can have both sluggish problems and serious diseases.

However, it should be noted right away that a healthy cat, as a rule, has clean ears, the need to clean which is not. Nature, creating animals, of course, did not count on the fact that they would live with the owner - a person, and provided enough mechanisms for self -regulation of the state of the ears.

But in every rule there are always exceptions. Although rarely, there are Sphinx cats, which have an increased gray separation in the ear shells. This is not a disease, but a feature of a cat's body. Such cats can be carefully cleaned by ears once a week.

If water got into the cat during bathing in the ears (which should still be avoided, since the situation can easily lead to otitis media), then you need to get wet with cotton or cotton wool.

If the cat shakes his head and combs its ears too often, then this most likely indicates the disease of the auditory organ. In this case, it is better to contact the veterinarian in order to accurately establish a diagnosis and not make a mistake with treatment.

The cause of pain in the cat in the auditory canal may be otitis media, a foreign body, sulfur plug, and ear ticks (otodectosis) that came into the ear. If there is no way to entrust the veterinarian for treatment, then you will have to do everything yourself. And in any case, the cat must be taken in the hands in such a way that without problems to produce all manipulations with ears. It is best to fix it by wrapping in a towel. Next, you should grab the head, and turn the ear sink as if "inside out."

If there are foreign objects, they need to be removed, of course. If there is pus, an excess of sulfur, you also need to try to remove them as much as possible with cotton wool, with cotton sticks so that the medicine can get inside. By the way, the dark pus and the gray Korost indicate the presence of ticks in the ear - this painful trouble is treated with special drops with acaracycide that kills parasites.

Another option for cleaning the ear is a slightly preheated (so as not to burn the cat's ear) paraffin or olive oil, which should be poured as much as possible in the auricle. After that, the base of the sink should be marked with the thumb and forefinger to squeeze the pus. Pouring oil can be wetted with cotton or matter (in the ear - only cotton). It should be borne in mind that the cat will probably resist and shake his head, spraying the oil.

After cleaning from pus with oil or cotton, you can start instillation of the medicine. It is better not to use powder for the ears, since it can cement the auricle, causing great harm to the animal.
