Ragamuffin cat breed

An amazingly beautiful cat of the breed, about which you can’t say at all that it is a ragamuffin. Why such a comparison? Everything explains the name of the breed ...

The breed is relatively young, because its recognition by CFA and ACFA occurred in the next century (in 2003), although it was presented at a cat show a little earlier, in 1994. Perhaps this was due to the fact that the Ragamuffin breed, at first glance, is almost indistinguishable in appearance from the Ragdoll. And even the characters of these breeds are very similar.

Distinctive features of the appearance of Ragamuffins
These are large cats. They are endowed with fluffy silky fur. They are distinguished from other breeds by their wide wedge-shaped head, which looks slightly rounded, including due to the protruding cheeks on the muzzle. The cat's ears are too small, pointed, and widely spaced. Tassels are often found on the rounded tips of the ears. The color of the huge, slightly slanted eyes is most often green or golden-green, but among cats of this breed there can be both blue-eyed and odd-eyed. On the short strong neck and on the outside of the Ragamuffin’s head, the fur forms an original collar with different lengths, and on the hind legs there are “pants-knickers”, which resembles a miniature lion. The tail is large and fluffy, which adds to the cat's attractiveness.
There are different colors in cats, but the most common are bicolor (two-colored with two perfectly matching colors), tabby (colors with a pattern) and black colorpoint.
In general, the cat looks surprisingly attractive, tender, soft. You just want to pick her up (which she loves very much) and stroke her.

Who is the ragamuffin character suitable for?
This question can be answered unequivocally: any family. But... This wonderful breed has a tendency to depression caused by loneliness. They need someone from the family to be nearby at all times and provide them with attention. After all, this affectionate and good-natured animal is very similar in behavior to a child. It is defenseless, like kids who cannot stand up for themselves. Therefore, large families are preferable for them, in which the cat will be cared for with love and tenderness. But due to their defenselessness, peace-loving Ragamuffins are not suitable for families with other pets with aggressive habits. The cat will constantly hide from such pets when attacked. Therefore, do not rush to get yourself a cat of this breed if you cannot protect it from the attacks of your other pets.
The breed is easy to train thanks to its sharp mind, but does not know how to hunt at all, and therefore, when mice appear in the house, do not expect appropriate actions from it. Apparently these hunting skills were simply lost in the process of breeding the breed.

Maintenance and care
In general, Ragamuffins are in good health, but they must be vaccinated on time, starting at three months of age. Only if this condition is met will you be able to take the kittens outside. You should also take care of the fur and comb it regularly. By the way, take care of a special paste that helps prevent the formation of hairballs in the animal’s stomach. The rest of the care is normal. It is better to give professional, super-premium food. But you can give your pet natural food with the addition of vitamin and mineral complexes. The eyes and ears, like those of other domestic cats, must be periodically wiped and cleaned.
