We accustom a sphinx cat to a nickname
The cat must respond to its name. Firstly, this will bring her closer to you; she comes to you when you call every day, several times a day. She will love it, and so will you. Secondly, it gives more guarantees of its safety. How many cases do we know when a Sphynx cat, responding to the call of its owners, ran away from cars, dogs and other threats.
But, of course, the cat must be taught this. Don't believe those who say that cats are not dogs and cannot be trained. On the contrary, they like the training and are happy to complete it. But: you need to show more persistence than when working with dogs. But if a cat begins to learn, it achieves even better results. A cat, unlike a dog, understands why and what it needs to learn.
The first step is learning to respond to a call while eating. Before you fill her dishes with food, call her in the same tone and intonation each time. Start feeding when she comes up. The Sphynx cat can go eat even when it hears you opening bags of food. That's why you need to prepare food when the cat comes to your voice. A maximum of a week and the cat will fly to your call to eat.
You definitely need to find out what treats she likes best. In addition to food, you need to find other things that she is interested in. This could be a game with a “bunny” from a mirror, or “mice” from a flashlight, or just a tennis ball on an ordinary string. Choose several options and, calling her by name, hand over what she is waiting for. Show the thing or product when she runs up to you.
At different times of the day you need to offer different joys. Food - when she is hungry, game - in the evening, when she likes to play. Do this in a room where there is no noise from a loud TV or other irritants. You seem to turn away from her, or move away and call in a calm voice. Just come up - encourage her. Don't be tormented by the wait. Give her the expected tuna or a piece of her favorite sausage, you can play a little with the game you have prepared. Yes, she may not immediately respond to your call, but a few trainings - and the result is guaranteed. Each time, increase the distance between you and the Sphynx cat.
Don’t “overdo” your workouts; they should last no more than four to five minutes and be repeated no more than ten times in one workout. But do this every day, maybe twice a day. It all depends on her and your mood. At each training session, increase the distance that she must cover when running towards you. Each time encouragement is required, and preferably different each time.
Now go to another room and do the same in this room. Then it’s even more difficult: call from one room to another. You should go outside with these training sessions only after making sure that the cat is ready for this. If you don't live alone, try having other family members call her. They should encourage her too. A cat definitely needs motivation and only then will it be happy to obey. He will see that there is nothing to run for, and then he may not run at all. The main thing is to bring it to automaticity.
Very important: A Sphynx cat should love you, not be afraid of you. That is, you can start training when the cat wants to run to you, you are a person close to her.
Start boldly and with love and everything will work out.
