Briefly about the history and appearance of the breed
The breed in question is quite rare. From its name, you, of course, already guessed that it is American by origin. However, we note that there are practically no purebred representatives of this breed left. Breeders were so keen on breeding it at one time that, as a result, the true Oregon Rex was lost among the huge mixture of breeds, although each of them is similar in appearance, they are genetically different. And since 1972, there are virtually no purebred cats of this breed left. And, apparently, this is why the official standard of this unique breed was never registered.

All that remains is its description, which distinguishes the Oregon breed from other famous Rexes:
- medium-sized wedge-shaped head;
- short, curly mustache with prominent pads on the muzzle;
- with slightly noticeable tassels and rounded ends of the ears.
Let's especially focus on the eyes. The shape of the eyes is rather oval with a wide set; their size can be called medium. In these seemingly ordinary eyes, you can see an intelligent and devoted look, no matter what color they are.
The coat is also different from other rexes - it is shorter than that of other breeds, curly in appearance, and silky to the touch. Its colors are varied. So for lovers of cats of certain colors there is a good choice - with patterns, plain ones. The most common ones are “saffron milk caps” or tortoise color (from the English tortoise – turtle).

Characteristics of the Oregon Rex
The cat of this breed has a simply wonderful character, according to its owners. Kind, flexible, attached to her owner - that’s what they say about her. An affectionate and inquisitive creature, willingly meets new people, but gets used to new surroundings slowly.

This clever girl is easy to learn, and therefore it is not difficult to train her, so those who want to exhibit their pet at an exhibition have every chance. And he easily finds a common language with children and willingly joins in the game with them. And if the children are somewhat careless with the cat due to inept handling, she will not show aggression, she has enough patience. As a last resort, he will run away to some secluded place.
The cat will happily luxuriate in bed with its owner. But this is only on condition that she is loved. And in the company of a pet dog, he will behave peacefully, and maybe even frolic. In fact, due to its natural energy, the animal loves to frolic, including with its toys (the owners should take care of this).

How to care for a cat?
